Derby and Derbyshire Safeguarding Adults Boards invites partner agencies, including those in adult social care you to take advantage of this unique opportunity to learn directly from NM Senior Coroner for Derby and Derbyshire, Mr. Peter Nieto. This Microsoft team’s online session will provide a comprehensive introduction to the coroner’s role, including the legal framework surrounding death investigations. Participants will explore real-life case examples, receive practical guidance, and engage in live Q&A sessions.

Key learning outcomes

By the end of these sessions, participants will:

1. Understand the expectations placed on adult social care staff when dealing with deaths referred to the Coroner.

2. Gain a clear understanding of the referral process for reporting a death.

3. Develop practical skills for preparing written statements and confidently giving evidence in a Coroner’s inquest.
