This concert will feature the wonderful Cornwall Cello Voices, and ensemble of professional cello performers and teachers who will present a varied programme of music including music by Gabrieli, Bach, Mozart, Resphighi, Rachmaninov and Gershwin. The band is led by Barbara Degener and came together for their inaugural concert in 2020. Six and more cellos in concert! That is an unusual concert offer....the idea of a cello orchestra was perhaps first realised by the great South American composer Heictor Villa Lobos whose wonderful settings (based on Bach ideas) were innovative. The cello section of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra made a celebrated LP of music for this amazingly resounding ensemble. Now Cornwall's cellist will bring this repertoire to the Roseland.
