Cork Dorks Wine Tasting Group

Welcome to my new monthly BYO wine tasting event (I loved the book Cork Dork, hence the name). I am on a journey to continue my wine education through tasting and comparing wines from different regions, the same regions, etc, and figure I'm not alone in my desire to taste wines (without breaking the bank), discuss them, and learn. I'm currently studying for WSET level 2, but this wine group is for anyone who has a desire to learn more about wine, or share what they know, no matter the level.

How this will work:

• The first tasting will be at my house in south Philly - limited to about 10 people or so. I'm open to other locations if anyone has suggestions.
• Every person who attends should bring a bottle of their choosing within the price range and from the region of the month.
• I have the Coravin wine serving device we will use to take tasting sized samples for each person that attends. Then, you can take the remainder of your bottle home with you still in perfect condition. The more people attend, the more wines you taste, the less wine you go home with in your bottle.
• My house is near McKean St and 21st Street in South Philly. I will send the exact address out to the confirmed attendees before the event.
• If you sign up and know you won't make it, please cancel your registration or let me know so I can open the spot up for someone else.
• I will provide water and some light snacks, feel free to bring something if you'd like.
• I have one wine glass per person available for use but feel free to bring your own glasses if you prefer.
• Book a ticket for each person attending (if you are bringing a guest, book a ticket for them and make sure they know to bring a wine. If you don't want to / can't bring a wine, you are welcome to venmo me $45 and I'll pick out a bottle for you. If you show up without a wine, I'll expect a $45 venmo from you ;)
• If this kind of tasting group set up is a hit, I will look for locations that offer a bit more space but for now I think my home is okay.

For this month: Wines from Bordeaux

• Please bring a bottle from any of the Bordeaux appellations and let's compare styles from different areas of Bordeaux. If you can let me know ahead of time what bottle you're bringing, or if you need recommendations, that will help make sure we don't all bring the same thing. I have a bottle of La Fluer de Bouard 2015 (same wine maker as Chateau Angelus) that I plan on sharing, but I have a few other bottles of Bordeaux I'm still deciding between.
• Bottle price: Please bring something between $25-$45, preferably from an appellation more specific than just "Bordeaux" so we can compare styles and areas.
• This won't be lead by any one person, so do some reading on the area and the wine you're bringing and be prepared to share something about it.
