Description: Enter a world at war in Shakespeare’s underperformed post-war tragedy, Coriolanus, a story steeped in violence, political intrigue, family dysfunction, and blood. The great Roman war hero, Caius Martius, newly christened Coriolanus, triumphantly returns to Rome heaped in honors and covered in scars. Though the fighting is over, the war rages on in Coriolanus’s mind. Alienated from his loved ones and haunted by the horrors he’s witnessed and committed, Coriolanus finds himself on a new kind of battlefield: civilian life. Through this play, this production asks: What does it mean to become a veteran? What are the effects of combat trauma? What happens to a soldier with no war to fight?
