A strongman leader. A starving people. A war that’s coming home.
In a state that heralds military might, a society that turns men into myths, and a time of perpetual war: the people are growing restless. General Gaius Marcius returns from the front, expecting a hero’s welcome. But as his wars have denied the people their grain, not everyone is cheering. As some fawn over him, granting the title of Coriolanus after his latest battle, a populist movement gathers pace. When he announces he will seek political power, a tinderbox is lit. Will the people accept his regime? Will the general exchange his weapons for words? Coriolanus is a political thriller for our turbulent times.
Contains depictions of violence.
