About this Event
Core Landscapes is a Core Arts project: a not-for-profit charity that promotes positive mental health and wellbeing through creative learning.
Core Landscapes transforms underused land in deprived urban areas into hubs for community engagement through horticulture, design, workshops, training and events – improving mental and physical health, overall wellbeing and community cohesion.
Working with referred beneficiaries, community volunteers, support volunteers and the general public, we create and care for multiple gardens, a plant nursery, street tree pits and planters, a meadow strip and a community orchard in Homerton, Hackney.
With a focus on organic, sustainable and wildlife-promoting practices, the gardens showcase what can be done in urban areas with creative and efficient use of small spaces, rain water harvesting and solar-powered irrigation systems, creating habitats and fostering wildlife, composting, and on-going experimentation with plants suited for different conditions.
Whether you’re thinking of volunteering; curious about green spaces in your area or looking to exchange ideas, these tours are a chance to visit and hear about the gardens and the work put into them over the past 10 years.
