Tomato Season: A Writing Workshop

"In my next life let me be a tomato" -- Natasha Rao

There is something special about the tomato, the most common garden plant. It is versatile, flavorful, and bright, and it's the center of many of our meals, which means it's often at the center of our lives. What can we learn from reading, writing, and discussing tomatoes? Especially over one of the most important and delicious tomato-indebted foods: pizza!?

Bookend your tomato summer with a writing workshop that uses existing writing centered on the tomato to inspire our own work -- which may be related to tomatoes, but doesn't have to be.

Important details:

  • A pizza and salad meal are included in your ticket!
  • All experience levels are welcome and encouraged to attend.
  • Classes will be capped at 12 people.
  • Our July class will focus more on poetry (though you can write in whatever genre you prefer), while our August class will focus more on prose (though again you can write in any genre).

Tickets:
Tickets, which include a meal of pizza and salad, are on a sliding scale. General admission tickets are $35. If you are a student or un- or under-employed, you can choose the $25 discounted ticket option. If you are able to help contribute to funding those discounted tickets, you can generously choose the advanced ticket option, which is $45. If you want to sign up for both workshops, you can get a discounted ticket package for $60. Finally, those who can't attend class but want to get the materials by email can choose that $5 option.
