Join the MAX Academy to learn how AI is impacting society and how we approach workforce development
About this Event

From our smart phones and smart cars to our smart homes and smart workplaces, artificial intelligence (AI) is having an ever-increasing impact on the way we live, work, and do business.

Through our next MAX Academy, we will explore the use of AI in the workforce development field. Specifically, we will learn about the growing applications of AI and review ethical considerations when using AI. We will then review tools for leveraging AI in our everyday use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and learn about device settings for optimizing AI. And we will dive into specific resume, interviewing, and job search tools and strategies using AI. Participants will have an opportunity to engage in mock interviews with AI tools.

NOTE: This workshop is designed to be interactive and hands-on with real-time application of AI tools. Participants are encouraged to bring their laptops.(Laptops will be provided if needed.)

This MAX Academy is held in partnership with NPursuit Career Partners and Gwinnett Technical College.

Providing opening remarks will be Dr. Glen Cannon, President, Gwinnett Technical College.

Lead instructor will be Jahari Soward, CEO, NPursuit Career Partners.

An expert on AI and the workforce from the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) will serve as our lunch speaker.

The MAX Academy will take place on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, at Gwinnett Technical College. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

  • Understand the applications of AI in society and in workforce development in particular.
  • Appreciate the ethical implications of AI and how to safeguard the right to privacy.
  • Develop a comfort level with using AI in everyday applications of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Create strategies for using AI for resume building, interviewing, and job search.

CREDENTIALED TRAINING

The Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC) has approved this training as counting toward continuing education hours (CEUs) for Certified Rehabilitation Counselors (CRCs). Special thanks to Goodwill of North Georgia for serving as the sponsor with the CRCC for this workshop.

Both the International Association of Workforce Professionals (IAWP) and the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals (NAWDP) recognize training programs held through the MAX Academy as relevant training hours for their certification programs. Hours spent attending MAX Academy workshops can count as training hours for earning a Certified Workforce Professional (CWP) credential from IAWP and also as professional development (continuing education) hours for CWP recertification. For NAWDP’s Certified Workforce Development Professional (CWDP), NAWDP will accept MAX Academy training hours toward the professional development hours required for CWDP recertification.

REGISTRATION

Join us for a day of learning and networking! The registration fee for this training is $25.00 for MAX members and $45.00 for non-members.

Because we recognize the value of having multiple team members from the same organization participate so concepts and practices may be discussed and reinforced, discounts are available when multiple staff from the same agency register for the workshop as follows:

MAX Members: $25.00 for the first registration and $15.00 for each additional registration from the same organization.

Non-Members: $45.00 for the first registration and $35.00 for each additional registration from the same organization.
