The Central Alabama Caribbean American Organization (CACAO) is dedicated to supporting Caribbean students pursuing higher education in Central Alabama. Since 2015, CACAO has proudly awarded scholarships to students of Caribbean heritage, helping them achieve their academic and professional goals.
CACAO is honored to award $1,000 scholarships to deserving students. These scholarships, named the Pauline J. Ford-Caesar Scholarships, recognize the dedication and contributions of CACAO’s Founder and President, Ms. Pauline J. Ford-Caesar. A native of Jamaica and a graduate of the University of Alabama Huntsville, Ms. Ford-Caesar has made significant contributions in the field of communications and has been a passionate advocate for Caribbean culture. She has played a key role in organizing cultural events, including the annual Caribbean Festival in June and the Christmas Fundraising Dinner Dance. Her commitment to community service has earned her numerous accolades, including the 2014 Motivating Woman Award, the 2018 Citizen Diplomat Award, and recognition as a finalist for the 2020 Remarkable Women Award by CBS 42.
In addition to receiving financial support, our scholarship recipients will serve as CACAO Ambassadors, helping to promote the organization’s mission. Their role includes sharing Caribbean culture and fostering diversity and inclusion within the Central Alabama community.
