Copperplate Flourishes Unraveled with Nina Tran

What a way to spend a weekend! Graceful and decorative flourishes are a sure way to add interest and energy to any letter, but their formation can be enigmatic, elusive, and even intimidating. Nina Tran will deep-dive into the core of Copperplate flourishes so we learn what they are, how they are made, how to practice them, what standard rules to follow and when to break them. We will learn tried-and-true flourishes as well as how to formulate our own.

• This is a HYBRID workshop limited to 15 in-person students at the Vienna Arts Society and 25 online via Zoom.
• Nina will review online students' work through the Padlet platform. Online students must be comfortable with Zoom and Padlet before the workshop.
• Workshop handouts will be sent to all students via email before the workshop.
• A Zoom link will be sent to online registrants by mid-March. Zoom video recording of the workshop will be sent to all registrants, available until May 31.
• Follow-up review and Q&A session scheduled for April 26, 10-11 am (registration required). Nina will review common issues that she sees in the work students have submitted as well as answer questions.
