Cooperative care is teaching your dog to not only tolerate handling and procedures but also to be an active, willing participant in these experiences. Our goal in teaching these skills is to help make vet and grooming appointments low-stress.What will we be doing in this course?
Build Comfort with Touch:
Helping your dog feel at ease with handling, from paw trims to ear checks.
Recognize and Lower Stress:
Understanding your dog’s body language and creating a calming environment.
Encourage Willing Participation:
Teaching your dog to actively cooperate during care routines.
Boost Confidence with Tools & Procedures:
Familiarize your dog with vet and grooming tools like nail clippers, stethoscopes, and more.
Each session is designed to empower you and your dog, making care routines a positive experience for everyone involved.
Course outline:
-Foot care/nail care
-Mouth/teeth
-Accepting medication
-Standing for care/vaccinations
-Stimulate Blood Draw
-Eyes/Ears
-Muzzle Training
-Learning Restraint
-Lie flat on your side
-Chin Rest
-Brushing
-Wrap one front and back paw/leg
-Eye/Ear Exam with light
8 - 1-hour classes

Prerequisite: Puppy Basic Obedience or equivalent. (done private lessons etc..) Dogs must be able to be in a room with other dogs.
