Day One Overview – Saturday, September 21st (9–2 PM)
Classroom Immersion Come together in our conference room with fellow growers for a day packed with essential information, ensuring you become a confident and successful grower. We'll provide snacks and breaks.
Topics covered include, but are not limited to:
Climate Considerations
- Understanding the climate in San Diego and how it affects growth.
What to plant, when to plant, and why it matters
- A deeper look into planting patterns that you can apply to all agriculture
Soil Preparation
- How to prepare your soil correctly for maximum growth
- Common soil products and how to use them
- Products worth buying and those that are not
How to feed your plants
- Understanding fertilizer products, instructions on how to use them, and how to get the most bang for your buck.
- How to feed plants for maximum production
Seed Starting
- What you need to know to germinate any seed quickly and evenly
Direct Sowing
- Learn how to direct sow with success and confidence
Day Two Overview – Sunday, September 22nd (8-11 AM)
On-the-Farm Learning Experience We will meet at our organic seed production farm in Ramona, CA to reinforce what you learned in the classroom. Please bring a light snack, water, and a sun hat. Transportation is not included.
Farm day activities include:
8am-10am seed starting workshop with Bo Whitfield.
10am-11am- farm tour and Q&A.
