Cooking Up Community With Chef Green
Date: Every other Monday, beginning January 13, 2025
Time: 4:30PM - 6:00PM
Ages: K-12th
Location: Thomas H Slater Center
Join Chef Green for a hands-on cooking experience, creating healthy and delicious meals. Cooking Up Community will teach individuals that everything we eat should boost our wellbeing and, of course, taste amazing! Through guided culinary sessions, participants will tap into their ancestral knowledge of how to nourish themselves with the foods and resources the Earth provides. Build your knowledge of where our food comes from, what it does for our bodies, and how we are all connected as a community—with food as the common denominator and Love as the main ingredient.
Bio
Break Bread not Hearts has allowed Chef Green aka Chef D’Amour to hone his life’s purpose into the increase of knowledge of self via the interdisciplinary pathways of food, nutrition, and social justice. More than a meal, each dish prepared by Chef Green is a battle cry and a Mmmm moment of silence for those who’ve sacrificed so much for freedom to be brought to fruition today. With signature dishes such as the Black Power Stir Fry, Jammin’ Jerk Chicken, Rasta’d Corn and the Chocolate Dank Cookie, Chef Green draws inspiration from Grandma to Marcus Garvey in the creation of recipes, the provision of culinary services, and the conscious effort to inspire all to put Love first whether on or off the plate.
