CONVERSATIONS IN STEAM: INSPIRING, ENGAGING 7 EDUCATING

Creating opportunity pipelines to leave no one behind.

THE EVOLVING ROLE OF STEAM IN ADVANCING FEMALE LEADERSHIP IN TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION

This particular session will be a conversation with a climate focused working member of the International Telecommunications Union -- a specialized United Nations agency responsible for matters related to information/communication technologies-- and a current climate focused Columbia University student whose goal is to have a rewardingly successful climate focused S.T.E.A.M career.

WE WILL ADDRESS THE WAYS IN WHICH WE COULD WORK IN PARTNERSHIP TO DEMYSTIFY THIS FIELD AND CHANGE MINDSETS.

WHY COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY?

Columbia University, "is one of the world's most important centers of research...it seeks to attract a diverse and international faculty, staff, and student body, to support research and teaching on global issues, and to create academic relationships with many countries and regions." This coupled with its rich history and legacy, positions it perfectly as a partner for one of Aspire Artemis's 2024 Global Conversations in S.T.E.A.M.

The need to work collaboratively through a collective action approach is clear, avoiding duplication of effort through bringing in diverse partners and integrating their comparative advantages to achieve development goals for the most vulnerable populations globally. This is at the crux of the operating ethos of the foundation and its work and impact on the ground.

This event will serve to connect young people interested in the fields of Climate, technology and innovation to those who are helping to transform the S.T.E.A.M landscape through their lived experiences and their creative insights on the way forward.

A one on one discussion with a professional executive and a young student aspiring to go into a climate focused S.T.E.A.M career, sharing lessons learned, will serve as the foremost transformative experiential learning experience for the young people at Columbia University and particularly for a current Columbia University student whose goal it is to have a rewardingly successful career in this area. We are especially excited about the impact this initiative will have on the educational trajectory and career aspirational journey.
