Join us at the Izaak Walton League for a unique afternoon experience. Under the direction of Chef Sam Anglin, participants will help cook traditional Indigenous foods around the fire, listen to stories, eat, and consider our relationship with the natural world. The menu will feature traditional, Indigenous foods, such as manoomin (wild rice) and mandaamin (ash-leached corn), and will be supplemented with foraged ingredients donated by participants. All donations are being coordinated by Lea of Joyful Wildcrafting. While not required, we invite attendees to bring something to contribute to the menu. We’ll need everything from wild game proteins, to wild spring greens, to wild seasonings, to foraged sweeteners. Participants are invited to forage with Lea on Sunday, April 27 at 2pm for items to contribute (location TBD).
On the day of this outdoor event, bring donation ingredients, your own table-serving, including utensils and cups, and a willingness to work together to prepare the meal, while learning from Sam about the sacred ingredients manoomin and mandaamin.
Space is limited. We will post here when the tickets are sold out, or send a DM to inquire.
Tickets are $20 for Izaak Walton League members and $30 for non-members. Use this PayPal link https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/Izaakwaltonmi?locale.x=en_US or DM for information about paying by check.
If you are not available to attend the event but would like to donate ingredients you’ve hunted, fished, or foraged, DM to learn more about contributing to this special community event.
