Thursday, November 13, 2025, 7 PMJoin us for a thought-provoking conversation with curator and writer Dr. Joan Borsa and Jen Budney, Executive Director of the Ukrainian Museum of Canada, presented in conjunction with the exhibition Dmytro Stryjek: Drawn From Memory. This special evening will explore the life and work of beloved Ukrainian Canadian artist Dmytro Stryjek, while reflecting on how “folk art” is positioned within the wider artistic landscape. Through Stryjek’s example, Borsa and Budney will consider how artists are often categorized by ethnicity, education, or perceived cultural authenticity, and how such labels can both elevate and limit their legacy.
