About this Event

The roofing industry is experiencing a shortage of roofing professionals. Gulf Coast Supply & Manufacturing developed Contractor’s Advantage™ Factory Training to help fill the gap. Contractor’s Advantage™ helps our contractor customers enhance their business and increase their profits by sharpening their installation skills and techniques.



Classes Offered:

Classroom Training -- Tuesday, January 28, 8am-5pm

$200

This class is appropriate for sales professionals, executives, and/or administrative staff.

Join us for the first day of Contractors Advantage, where you'll dive into the essential knowledge needed for successful metal roofing installations. This classroom session covers critical topics such as building codes and standards, warranty insights, and navigating Florida product approvals, ensuring you’re fully equipped to understand the technical aspects of bids and sales. Enhance your expertise in engineering principles and wind load considerations to confidently communicate with clients and elevate your sales strategy.


Basic Hands-On - Exposed Fasteners -- Wednesday, January 29, 8am-5pm

$200
Ideal for installers and foremen. Participants will physically install metal roofing products in this course. This class is not appropriate for sales professionals, executives, and/or administrative staff.

One day hands-on training designed to provide a detailed introduction to proper installation techniques, Gulf Coast® installation details, governing codes & standards, and metal as a component in the roof system. This training will focus on exposed fastener metal roof products.

Key topics include:

  • Gulf Coast® Roofing Products
  • Roofing Codes & Standards
  • Proper Fastener Selection and Installation
  • Thermal Dynamics of Metal Roofing
  • Mitres, Laps, Transitions
  • Trim Details – Eave, Endwall, Rake, Sidewall
  • Through Penetrations


Advanced Hands-On - Hidden Fasteners -- Thursday, January 30, 8am-5pm

$200 (must have gone through Exposed Fasteners to do this class)

Ideal for installers and foremen. Participants will physically install metal roofing products in this course. This class is not appropriate for sales professionals, executives, and/or administrative staff.

One day hands-on training designed to provide a detailed introduction to standing seam metal roof systems. Prerequisite for this training is Gulf Coast® Hands-On Training. This advanced course will focus on snap lock and mechanically seamed hidden fastener roof systems.

*Prerequisite for this training is Gulf Coast® Basic Hands-On Training.

Key topics include:

  • Gulf Coast® Roofing Products
  • Roofing Codes & Standards
  • Thermal Dynamics of Metal Roofing
  • Trim Details – Eave, Ridge, Endwall, Valley, Gable, Sidewall, Endwall, Skylight
  • Installations of Clips
  • Mechanical Seaming

All participants must wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. Gulf Coast will supply personal protection equipment of gloves, cut sleeves, and safety glasses. Failure to be dressed appropriately will result in you being removed from the class with no refund.

Required Checklist for Hands-On Trainings: offset red snips (not aviation snips), offset green snips (not aviation snips), seamers, speed square, tape measure, driver/drill, #2 bits and 1/4 drive, and gloves.

Each participant MUST wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) at all times while working with metal.
