About this Event
In December 2017, artist and filmmaker Steve McQueen (b. 1969, London, UK) made an artwork in response to the fire that took place earlier that year on 14 June at Grenfell Tower in North Kensington, West London. 72 people died in the tragedy. Filming the tower before it was covered with hoarding, McQueen sought to record it so that it would not be forgotten. Steve McQueen's film 'Grenfell' is showing at Sepentine Galleries South, where we begin our gallery crawl.
After the film we will walk to the Blyth Gallery [16 mins] to see Sensorscape, a solo exhibition of mixed media works by Zoƫ Mendelson, an artist and writer whose work incorporates animation, collage, drawing, installation, painting, performance and writing. We'll finish at the V&A to see a work by Kehinde Wiley.
Meeting point; 10.45 sharp - latecomers not admitted - outside Serpentine South Gallery Kensington Gardens, London, W2 3XA.
Please wear comfortable shoes and bring an umbrella as we will be walking between venues.
