Explore contemplative walking in this 6-week series with Nick Smith—mindfulness in motion blending somatics, anatomy & meditative presence.
About this Event

Contemplative walking offers the possibility of balance: the depth of seated practice and the vitality of movement.

For modern bodies, it’s a way to weave mindfulness, heartfulness and sacredness into our waking, walking lives, not just on the cushion, but in each step through the world.

Over six weeks, we’ll explore walking and other modes of locomotion and movement as a meditative, creative and embodied practice. Blending mindfulness, somatics, anatomy and movement arts, this series offers a playful way to connect more deeply with your body and to the world around you. Join for the full six-week series or drop-in to one or more sessions.

We will explore:

* Grounding and centering

* Concentrating attention into physical and energetic sense objects

* Walking from the skeleton, spine, soft tissues and organs

* Visual and spatial awareness

* Rolling-point weight tracking

* Energizing and calming tools to tune skillfully to different moods and states

* Identity, identification, self/other boundaries, self/environment boundaries

* And more

Informed by scientific understanding, spiritual tradition and new creations, these sessions invite The Alembic community to re-discover and reinvent walking practice as a profound and joyful path through life.

This event is in-person only
