About this Event
Container of Hope
Mental Health Peer Support Group
Brain & Mind Hub Sunshine Coast is now hosting a weekly Peer Support Group for adults who have received a mental health diagnosis and are seeking the support of peers with a lived experience of mental health recovery. Participants are encouraged to share, learn, and grow together in a collaborative space that instills dignity and hope into their recovery journey. This will include group processes using multiple modalities which assist in cultivating self-awareness, self-determination, and self-regulation.
Peer support in mental health can be defined as - the help and support that people with lived experience of a mental illness can give to one another.
This form of group support cultivates improved quality of life and emotional resilience, increased feelings of hope and empowerment, a sense of connection with less loneliness, and reduced self-stigma around mental health.
With support, participants will learn to identify and access their inner and external resources, cultivating confidence and resilience that can be carried through into everyday life.
What happens at BaMH SC Container of Hope?
Our Peer Support group is facilitated by our caring and compassionate peer support workers with lived experience of mental health challenges and recovery.
When you join our peer support group you will begin to experience the intention of the Container of Hope; to support and promote a sense of well-being and connection, instilling hope, dignity, and self-determination into the mental health recovery process.
Meeting weekly, we gather over healthy refreshments, hold a group check-in, share experiences, resources, and learning relevant to your mental health recovery, and explore our weekly session intention using multiple therapeutic modalities.
The Container of Hope instills a collaborative approach providing opportunities for group choice of meeting locations; in nature, at cafes, or local community spaces. As the group develops, we will collectively choose topics and interventions to explore together.
