About this Event

This session provides information about the process of considering and preparing for residential care. It includes strategies to help family carers to decide when residential care may be needed, information on the process for application, and understanding the emotional impact of the change.

You will gain knowledge in:

  • recognising the signs that residential care may be needed
  • identifying your criteria of good care and the steps to access residential care
  • sharing the care with the staff and other residents in the aged care home.

Suitable for: Family carers and family members of people living with dementia. This session is not suitable for professionals employed in the health or aged care sectors.

Dementia Australia's facilitators have specialist dementia knowledge, skills and experience. This session is delivered interactively, you will be encouraged to share your experiences alongside other participants giving you an opportunity to develop new support networks.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Dementia Australia Car Park: Limited Car parking is available in the car park located off Glen Street, look for the reserved signs.

Street Car Parking: There is often all-day car parking located on Glen Street and Riversdale Road on one side of the street and 2 hour car parking on the other side. Please read the signs carefully.

Tram: No 70 or 75 Riversdale Road OR No 16 Glenferrie Road

Train: To Glenferrie Station (Belgrave/Lilydale Line) tram or 10 min walk south along Glenferrie Road. Stop at Riversdale Road

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
