The Conservatory Youth Theatre Showcase is a special event presenting one act plays from the young performers in the Conservatory of Performing Arts Showtime acting program.Performances will include the following (in performance order):
Showtime Junior is our youngest acting program featuring performers ages 8-10. This group will be presenting How Santa Got His Christmas Tree. There’s big excitement in Santa’s toy shop. Santa’s helpers are building new toys, and the mail is piling up. Mrs. Claus has sent for a Christmas tree because Santa has always wanted one, and trees don’t grow at the North Pole. Unfortunately, two nasty toymakers who have been banished from Santa’s Village for shoddy workmanship try to get even! They steal the tree, and they won’t give it back unless Mrs. Claus surrenders all the toys! Will the toys and tree be saved in time for Christmas? How Santa Got His Christmas Tree is written by Tim Kelly. This group is directed by Joseph Shane McLellan.
Showtime Senior (5:30pm class) is our oldest acting program featuring performers ages 11-14. This group will be presenting Wait Wait Bo Bait. Waiting... Waiting... Waiting... What are you waiting for, right now? Christmas to come? The phone to ring? Class to be over? The man of your dreams? The line to move? The answer? To be yelled at for setting a toilet on fire? We all have to wait. How long will you? Could you wait all day, or is it killing you? Are you staring at the phone, the line, the door, a clock? A watched clock never boils you know... Wait Wait Bo Bait is written by Lindsay Price. This group is directed by Vanessa Nezamloo.
Showtime Senior (7:15pm class) is our oldest acting program featuring performers ages 11-14. This group will be presenting Hairball. It's time to reveal your secret: You're obsessed with your hair. And why shouldn't you be? Good hair makes your day. Bad hair gets you dumped. Good hair gets you to the prom. Bad hair makes you look like an eggplant. Good hair means you're popular. Bad hair means hat head for the rest of your life. It's enough to make you want to tear your hair out! But you know what's better than obsessing about your hair? Watching OTHER people obsess about their hair! Now those people are crazy... Hairball is written by Lindsay Price. This group is directed by Vanessa Nezamloo.
There will be a short 10-min transition break between each show just to reset the stage and organize students.
