This is a free event, but normal house admission fees and timed-ticket entry slots will apply. Collect your timed-entry tickets from the visitor centre and present them to the greeter at the front of the house. Our volunteer stewards will help to direct you to where the Conservation in Action demonstrations will take place.
Please bring along some spare change for our donation pot. It all helps us to continue to look after the collections and care of Chartwell.
October’s Conservation in Action days cover preventative conservation across five days with different themes. The ever-popular Metals Monday returns on 6 October. Tuesday 7 October’s theme is inspired by autumn colour and some of our red objects. Wednesday 8 October’s seasonal theme is Creepy Crawlies and how we deal with the bugs and insects in historic homes. Thursday 9 October’s theme is the autumnal golden shade. Friday 10 October completes the week with a Freaky Friday look at some of the unusual objects in our collection.
