Art Recovery LA, in collaboration with the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture, are offering FREE services to those affected by the fires, including assessments of your recovered artworks and belongings, cleaning and repairing objects damaged by soot and ash, assistance with removal of the smell of smoke from small objects, and custom archival boxes for safe storage
Bring artworks, photographs, photo albums, stuffed animals, toys, collectibles, ceramics, jewelry, textiles, and other cherished belongings that survived the fires.
Bring objects that can be easily carried by one person.
If possible, pack objects in plastic bins, plastic baggies, or wrap in plastic sheeting.

About Us
The mission of the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture is to advance arts, culture, and creativity throughout LA County. We provide leadership, services, and support in areas including grants and technical assistance for nonprofit organizations, countywide arts education initiatives, commissioning and care for civic art collections, research and evaluation, access to creative pathways, professional development, free community programs, and cross sector creative strategies that address civic issues. Art Recovery LA is a collective of art conservation professionals in Los Angeles and throughout Southern California dedicated to assisting people protect and restore their cherished belongings before, during, and after disasters. Through compassionate support, hands-on guidance, and shared knowledge, we are in service to community members and cultural organizations as they preserve their heritage and personal histories. Grounded in empathy, resilience, and community, we believe that healing begins when we come together to protect our stories, histories, and the objects that hold them.
Liability Waiver for In-Person Clinic
Participant acknowledges that the County of Los Angeles, the Conservation Clinic site host, and the volunteer conservators (collectively the “Hosts”), make no guarantees as to the feasibility of repair or conservation of personal belongings. The Hosts, likewise make no assurances or representations that the transportation, handling, or treatment of personal belongings damaged by fire will not worsen or further damage or destroy personal belongings, therefore Participant agrees that participation in the workshop is at their sole risk, and they agree to release the Hosts from any loss of the personal belongings or damage or destruction of the personal belonging(s).
Participant represents that the personal belonging was damaged or impacted by the Los Angeles fires. Participant represents that they have ownership of the personal belonging, or are authorized by the owner of the item(s) to participate in the Conservation Clinic.
LIABILITY WAIVER, RELEASE, AND COVENANT NOT TO SUE. I hereby waive, release, discharge and agree not to sue the County of Los Angeles, its elected and appointed officers, employees agents, volunteers (including volunteer conservators), and the Conservation Clinic Host (hereinafter referred to as "Indemnitees") from and with respect to all present and future claims that may be made by the myself, my family members, estate, heirs, assigns, personal representatives, next of kin, or spouse, including, without limitation, claims for property damage, personal injury, or death in connection with the Participant's participation in the Conservation Clinic, including, but not limited to, claims actually or allegedly arising out of or relating to the negligence of any of the Indemnitees.
Image Photo Release
In consideration of Participant's participation in the Conservation Clinic, related events and activities, I agree that Participant's likeness may be photographed and that such image may be used on the County's Website, or in official County publication or displays, public newspapers, magazines, reports, or other public document; or electronic or digital recordings.
