Look Cool, Feel Good Country Workshops Thursday 22nd @ 7:30: Int Line Dancing – Movement and Motion
In this class, we’ll be focusing on (1) using your body efficiently to power yourself through a variety of single and double turns that are common in line dancing, & (2) basic ideas to have fun and be less awkward using your hands in line dancing – specifically rotational & non-rotational movements.
Friday 23rd @ 5:30:
Beg/Int Swing Dancing – What makes cool moves work?
Come work on shoulder and hip catch, behind the back variations of an outside turn with us! We’ll focus on clarity and connection on the leaders end, and how to pressure match and respond with balance and control as follows.
Saturday 24th 11am to 5pm: Look Cool, Feel Good
Let’s explore fundamental techniques for connection and movement that apply to great, fun country swing, regardless of whether or not it is rodeo or modern. How can we make country swing feel good in our bodies, and look cool on the dance floor?
Morning Follow Goals: movement, balance, body control, navigating the unknown.
Morning Lead Goals: clarity, care, flow, creating diverse experiences.
Afternoon Goals: Applying fundamentals to more complex moves in a way that is responsive to the music.
Saturday Night 7pm: Social Dance!! Included with event pass or an addition fee for non event pass holders. All are welcome!!!
Sunday 25th:
1-2:45: In Depth Line Workshop
This is designed for people that are interested in pushing their abilities in line dancing as dancers or teachers. While it will be responsive to the participants, it will focus primarily on (1) how can we achieve great footwork? [& what is that???], (2) using walls with isolations to create emphasis, (3) possibly a basic exploration of rhythm in movement.
3-5pm: In Depth Swing Workshop
This is designed for people that are interested in pushing their abilities in country swing as dancers or teachers. It will focus on an in-depth dive into Saturday’s concepts, looking at different options and variations, going body part by body part, on time in simple rhythms to a variety of songs. I will integrate in one additional major concept based on participant request and my observations on Saturday.
Both in depth workshops are available to event pass holders only for an additional fee.
