How to put Pullman Standard Public Transport at the heart of Build, Build, Build's new housing and communities.
About this Event
A Hybrid Live/Online Conference - 5th October 2020
Building back greener
Sir Peter Hendy, Chairman of Network Rail, keynote speaker.

Sir Peter has stated that a cultural change is required so that the railway becomes accustomed to operating the kind of service frequencies more commonly associated with a metro system.

The event builds on a series of online Metroisation Case Study seminars held this year,

  • Devon Metro
  • Northumberland Line
  • Rochdale Rail Corridor
  • MetroWest Bristol
  • Oxford Metro

at which audiences heard from Local Authorities and the rail industry about practical experience of delivering better services, new stations and reopening lines.

Frequent rail services enable local authorities and developers to deliver sustainable development of both market and affordable housing in healthy communities where active travel and frequent, reliable public transport are the norm.

Post Covid Public Transport - The opportunity exists to make a step change in improving public transport, spreading the former peak-hour load across the whole day, by providing 'Pullman Standard' seating and booking, so more passengers are carried in greater comfort and enjoy and make productive use of their travelling time. Services offering realtime booking and reservations operating from user friendly stations which are community hubs provide a much more attractive experience than the private car while also decarbonising travel.

The conference will highlight new sources of income that can be tapped by sharing in the uplift of land and house prices which arise from enhanced rail services, as well as recent successful implementation of the latest technology to achieve the necessary improvements.

By working with the rail industry, local authorities, housebuilders and developers have the opportunity to springboard a new era of Net Zero emissions and enable climate emergency commitments to be met.

Come and learn how these exciting new opportunities and associated funding sources will be tapped. We stand at the threshold of a new era with low carbon public transport at the heart of all new development. See www.ConnectedCities.co.uk
