Why Connected Communities?
In 2021 the Traveller Movement undertook research into how Gypsy, Roma and Traveller young people were engaging with sector specific and mainstream youth provision. This Roads to Success report can be found here.
Building on this research the Traveller Movement was commissioned by Youth Futures Foundation to deliver a 2-year programme (Reaching Out) to firm up the infrastructure that helps support and develop pathways into employment, education, and training for Gypsy, Roma and Traveller young people.
As part of the Reaching Out programme we have already delivered five Connected Community events in Manchester, Liverpool, London, Kent and Essex. The aim of these has been to bring stakeholders together, to share experiences of working with young people and to agree how best we can deliver on those Road to Success recommendations.
