Description:
This 16-hour program teaches fundamental confined space rescue principles and skills at the operations level based on NFPA 1006 Standard for Technical Rescue Personnel Professional Qualifications (2021 edition). Students will learn about OSHA regulations, NFPA standards, confined space hazards, atmospheric monitoring, patient assessment & packaging, extrication techniques, and more. Hands-on evolutions in simulated confined spaces will incorporate both horizontal and vertical rescue techniques.
This is a blended learning course and students are required to complete online class material prior to August 15. Students will earn the Confined Space Rescue Operations (16 hours) certificate.
Please note: The online component should be completed in Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.
Class Details:
Class will run from 8:00am to 4:00pm at the West Chester Fire Department Training Center (351 Snyder Avenue, West Chester, PA 19381).
Students must bring their own class III rescue harness, rescue helmet, rope gloves, and safety glasses to class. If you are unable to bring any of this equipment, please email us.
Pre-Requisite:
Previous rope rescue operations level training through Elder Technical Rescue Services, LLC or another approved training provider. Copies of certificate(s) are required.
PA DOH EMS Con-Ed: 9.50 hours (2.00 clinical)
