About this Event
It is our great pleasure to invite you on Tuesday, Oct.17, 2023, from 9.00 h to 13.00h at the Impact Hub Piamonte, Madrid, at the closing conference of our regional program "Joining Forces" funded by the Internet Society Foundation, through TechSoup.
In the past year, the United Way network in Germany, Israel, Netherlands, Romania, Spain and the UK have embarked into a highly innovative effort, of connecting through technology refugees, migrants, vulnerable youth or people who developed mental health conditions during Covid with lonely seniors. The groups have immensely helped each other:
- the refugees and migrants were able to practice the language of their adoptive country and better understand cultural norms
- the vulnerable youth and people with mental health issues connected regularly with seniors, exercised patience and helped them dealing with technology
- the seniors socialized and got support in acquiring ITC skills necessary in everyday life.
We would like to share this regional success with you by hearing from the main actors and funders of this program. We will also use this occasion to learn how socially conscious technology companies in Spain are structuring their support and interventions. You will soon receive the agenda of the event
