This is an face to face session at Sandal Rugby Club
This course is aimed at GPA's, but suitable for other relevant roles
The use of a blood sample to aid diagnosis or monitoring of disease progression or drug treatments is widely practiced within medical care. This training day will equip you with the knowledge and practical experience of the why and how to undertake this procedure safely and effectively, potential pitfalls and awareness of what can go wrong. The content includes:
1. An overview of blood tests commonly requested for patients in the Primary Care setting
2. Consideration of the patient experience
3. The structure of blood vessels and the technique for taking blood
4. Accountability
5. Infection prevention and health and safety issues related to phlebotomy
Please could delegates bring a couple of blood bottles/needles and a tourniquet. We should have enough but just in case anyone needs additional practice.
