About this Event
Concrete Youth invites audiences labelled with profound and multiple learning disabilities to take part in a gentle, sensory-led journey through Thackray Museum of Medicine. This relaxed session uses sound, texture, light and simple interactive moments to explore themes of care, the body and wellbeing, allowing each participant to engage at their own pace.
Led by experienced sensory practitioners, the session prioritises comfort, familiarity and responsiveness, creating a welcoming environment for shared experience, curiosity and enjoyment within the museum space.
Concrete Youth is a charity dedicated to increasing cultural provision for people labelled with profound and multiple learning disabilities. Founded in 2019, the organisation has engaged over 10,500 audience members across the UK and internationally, delivering inclusive, sensory-rich experiences that place accessibility and creativity at their core.
The company specialises in multi-sensory theatre and education, creating work that fosters connection and meaningful engagement across a range of venues. In 2024, Concrete Youth made history with Sensory Cinders, the first-ever West End production created specifically for audiences labelled with profound and multiple learning disabilities. Its education department is nationally recognised, having won two consecutive Education & Training Awards for Best Sensory Education, and delivers accredited programmes in partnership with Artsmark.
