The Concert Truck is a traveling music venue that strengthens communities by redefining the concert experience and making live music accessible to everyone. Impassioned by their love for music, pianists Nick Luby and Susan Zhang converted a 16-foot box truck into a fully functioning mobile concert hall, complete with lights, sound system, and piano. Since then, The Concert Truck has presented concerts across the country in city streets, music and arts festivals, schools, neighborhoods, parks... anywhere you can think to park a truck. In addition to sharing original programming with local communities, The Concert Truck strengthens relationships between arts organizations and the communities they serve. The Concert Truck in Kalamazoo is presented by the Irving S. Gilmore International Piano Festival.
Concerts in the Park is a program of the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo, with support from the Irving S. Gilmore Foundation, Kzoo Parks, WMUK, Encore Magazine, and the Michigan Arts & Culture Council. It is one of Kalamazoo’s long-standing traditions offered in June, July, and August in Bronson Park delivering a unique offering, unlike any other. Each concert is free and is friendly for the entire family. Picnic meals, blankets, or lawn chairs are encouraged.
There is not a rain site for Concerts in the Park. If inclement weather is expected the concert may be canceled by 2:00 pm that same day.
On-street parking is available all around the perimeter of the park. Additional parking is nearby at the South Street Parking Garage.
