For nearly 15 years, the Kalamazoo Academy of Rock (KAR) has been helping Kalamazoo area kids learn by giving them the space and the tools to play rock-and-roll music. Our student musicians practice with their bands for 12 weeks and then play real shows at actual venues like Bell’s Back Room, The Other Side, and at regional festivals. Inclusive and open-minded, the KAR staff of directors and teachers are supportive and patient, and our student musicians are always ready to rock those drums, guitars, basses, keyboards, and voices!Concerts in the Park is a program of the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo, with support from the Irving S. Gilmore Foundation, Kzoo Parks, WMUK, Encore Magazine, and the Michigan Arts & Culture Council. It is one of Kalamazoo’s long-standing traditions offered in June, July, and August in Bronson Park delivering a unique offering, unlike any other. Each concert is free and is friendly for the entire family. Picnic meals, blankets, or lawn chairs are encouraged.
There is not a rain site for Concerts in the Park. If inclement weather is expected the concert may be canceled by 2:00 pm that same day.
On-street parking is available all around the perimeter of the park. Additional parking is nearby at the South Street Parking Garage.
