About this Event
Join Maestro Stephen Alltop and the Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra for an afternoon of beautiful Baroque music performed in the stunning acoustics of Faith United Methodist Church. Our concert will begin with spectacular music by George Frideric Handel, the Concerto a due cori in B-Flat Major. Stephen will join concertmaster Maria Arrua to perform a fabulous and rarely heard concerto, Joseph Haydn's Concerto for Violin, Harpsichord, and String Orchestra in F Major. The virtuosity of Principal oboist John Dee will be showcased in the performance of Tomaso Albinoni’s famous Oboe Concerto in D Minor. FUMC’s magnificent pipe organ will be thrilling in its full glory as Stephen Alltop performs the stunning Präludium in E Major for solo organ by German composer Vincent Lübeck. For our finale, your heart will be uplifted by enchanting music from Jean-Philippe Rameau’s opera Les Boréades. Come and enjoy Baroque music at its best!
