The Love Light Orchestra, formed in 2016, draws inspiration from the grand, orchestral blues sound of mid-20th century Memphis legends like B.B. King and Bobby Bland. While paying homage to this era, the orchestra also embodies the spirit of the present, offering a blend of down-home musicality and sophistication reminiscent of packed nightclubs of yesteryears.Led by trumpeter Marc Franklin, guitarist Joe Restivo, and vocalist John Nemeth, the ensemble has garnered praise for its immersive performances, capturing the essence of Memphis’ influential jazz and blues scene. Their debut studio album, Leave the Light On, showcases the collective’s dedication over three years, navigating busy schedules and the challenges of a global health crisis.
With the release of their sophomore album, the orchestra refines its sound, presenting mostly original tunes that highlight their veteran musicianship while looking toward the future. The Love Light Orchestra balances a reverence for the past with a forward-thinking outlook, solidifying their place in the contemporary blues landscape.
