Cardiff Philharmonic Orchestra opens its new season in spectacular fashion putting Llandaff Cathedral's magnificent organ through its paces with Saint-Saens' mighty Organ Symphony performed by Judith Pendrous.

The concert also celebrates the 150th anniversary of the birth of Maurice Ravel with two contrasting pieces - the Alborado del Gracioso, full of dynamic colours, and the serene and beautiful Pavane.

We also mark the 50th anniversary of the passing of Sir Arthur Bliss with a suite from his fantastic ballet Checkmate, based on a game of chess!
