Concert for Ukraine: “Urbi et Orbi – a Bi-Lingual Conversation”Presented by Michael Rosenblum and Alexander Fefer
Urbi et Orbi is a fascinating, experimental bi-lingual program.
The idea started when Michael and Alex both fell in love with the poetry of a Ukrainian-Israeli poet Vitaly Mamay. Michael wrote quite a few songs to Vitaly’s Russian-language lyrics, while Alex wrote songs to his own translated lyrics.
The duo will take your through their creative process, contrasting songwriting styles, and series of topics, ranging from extremely serious and moving, to thought-provoking, and to riotously hilarious.
The first part of the concert is “Matched!” – you will have a chance to compare how the same songs and poems sound in Russian and English. In the second part, we will move towards more general topics, and introduce other poets, and some of our original songs.
This concert will be interesting to both Russian and English language speakers, as well as anyone who loves music and appreciates a good company! Join us for the fun and good cause!
The suggested donation to benefit Helping Hands for Ukraine is $50 and will include wine and light refreshments.
Huge thanks to Forte Piano company in Paramus for hosting the concert in their beautiful hall. www.HelpingHandsUkraine.org is very grateful to find new partners to continue organizing charity concerts!
