Worcester Festival Choral Society opens its new concert season on Saturday 23 November 2024 with a stunning programme of much-loved choral and orchestral works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Gabriel Fauré. Marking the 100th anniversary year of Fauré's death, this musical programme is back by popular demand, after our sell-out 2021 concert featuring the same works had to be cancelled on the day, when a major storm damaged the Cathedral!
From the lively overture to Mozart’s opera The Magic Flute and the divine choral harmonies of his Solemn Vespers, to the tuneful beauty of Fauré’s Cantique de Jean Racine and the glorious richness of his Requiem mass, this is a concert not to be missed.
Appearing alongside the 140 voices of Worcester Festival Choral Society will be four, internationally acclaimed soloists. Conducted by director of music Samuel Hudson, and accompanied by the superb Meridian Sinfonia orchestra, the concert’s magnificent setting of Worcester Cathedral adds the perfect finishing touch.
Soloists:
BRITTANY KING – soprano
FRANCES GREGORY – mezzo soprano
GREG TASSELL – tenor
PETER EDGE – baritone
