🇫🇷 Nous sommes heureux d'entamer l'année 2026 avec un duo de grands artistes irlandais, l'accordéoniste 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗱 𝗠𝘂𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗹𝗹𝘆 et le bouzoukiste, fiddler et chanteur 𝗠𝗮𝗰𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗮 𝗢́ 𝗙𝗮𝗼𝗹𝗮́𝗶𝗻.Tous deux ancrés dans la musique traditionnelle irlandaise, ils aspirent à la réinterpréter en explorant les frontières entre les genres, puisant leurs inspirations dans le jazz, la musique classique ou les musiques traditionnelles du monde.
Un voyage musical à ne pas manquer, qui sera suivi d'une 𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗲𝗻 𝗹𝗲𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗲 !
• 𝗗𝗔𝗩𝗜𝗗 𝗠𝗨𝗡𝗡𝗘𝗟𝗟𝗬
David est originaire de Belmullet (Co. Mayo), et a grandi dans une famille de musiciens. Sa grand-mère lui a transmis son amour de la musique traditionnelle, et plus particulièrement celui de l'accordéon et du mélodéon. Reconnu pour son style flamboyant, qui mêle des doigtés de basse audacieux, des arrangements complexes et des compositions modernes, il dégage une énergie explosive et possède un talent exceptionnel pour laisser une mélodie se déployer pleinement, créant ainsi un son unique et brillant.
Dès ses débuts de musicien professionnel, il est devenu membre à part entière du groupe de Niamh Parsons, ainsi que d'autres formations comme The Chieftains et De Danann.
David Munnelly a fondé le David Munnelly Band en 1999 et a entamé un parcours de treize ans avec son propre groupe, sillonnant l'Europe, l'Amérique et le Japon et enregistrant quatre albums. Récemment, David a étendu son répertoire à l'Europe continentale où il travaille actuellement sur plusieurs nouveaux projets.
Ces dernières années, tout en explorant la composition, il a également enregistré un album de nouvelles œuvres pour accordéon solo intitulé « Aonair », acclamé par la critique.
• 𝗠𝗔𝗖𝗗𝗔𝗥𝗔 𝗢́ 𝗙𝗔𝗢𝗟𝗔́𝗜𝗡
Macdara, originaire d'An Rinn (Co. Waterford), est reconnu pour son approche novatrice de la musique traditionnelle irlandaise. Il se consacre actuellement à la composition de pièces pour bouzouki solo, où il fusionne sa profonde connaissance de l'harmonie avec ses racines traditionnelles. De langue maternelle irlandaise, il écrit également de nouvelles chansons en irlandais, contribuant ainsi à la préservation et à l'évolution de la langue par sa musique.
Macdara accompagne fréquemment divers musiciens de la scène traditionnelle irlandaise. Il est également membre d'un trio avec Páraic Mac Donnchadha et Pádraic Keane. Leur premier album, « Beo », une compilation d'enregistrements en direct de concerts donnés à travers le pays, a été salué par l'Irish Echo comme « l'un des meilleurs albums de ces dernières années ».
Macdara a sorti un EP solo intitulé « Do Shamhlaigh Mé Tír Nua... » en 2024, prélude à son premier album « Ar Thaobh Chill an Fhuarthainn », paru début janvier 2025. Ces deux projets ont été produits par le compositeur et pianiste Cormac McCarthy.
« Do Shamhlaigh Mé Tír Nua... » a récemment été nominé pour l'album de l'année par Nós.ie, et Macdara a également été nominé pour le prix du meilleur instrumentiste folk aux RTÉ Folk Awards. Élu jeune musicien de l'année par TG4 en 2024, Macdara s'impose comme une figure majeure de la musique traditionnelle irlandaise.

🇮🇪 We are delighted to begin 2026 with a duo of great Irish artists: accordionist 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗱 𝗠𝘂𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗹𝗹𝘆 and bouzouki player, fiddler, and singer 𝗠𝗮𝗰𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗮 𝗢́ 𝗙𝗮𝗼𝗹𝗮́𝗶𝗻.
Both deeply rooted in traditional Irish music, they aspire to reinterpret it by exploring the boundaries between genres, drawing inspiration from jazz, classical music, and traditional world music.
A musical journey not to be missed, which will be followed by a 𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆!
• 𝗗𝗔𝗩𝗜𝗗 𝗠𝗨𝗡𝗡𝗘𝗟𝗟𝗬
David is from Belmullet, Co. Mayo, and grew up in a musical family. His grandmother instilled in him a love of traditional music, particularly the accordion and the melodeon. Known for his colorful style, which inhales bold bass fingerings, complex arrangements and modern composition, he exudes explosive energy and possesses an exceptional talent for letting a melody fully unfold, creating a unique and brilliant sound.
From his early days as a professional musician, he became a full member of Niamh Parsons' band, as well as other groups such as The Chieftains and De Danann.
David Munnelly founded the David Munnelly Band in 1999 and embarked on a thirteen-year journey with his own group, touring Europe, America, and Japan and recording four albums. Recently, David has expanded his repertoire to continental Europe, where he is currently working on several new projects.
In recent years, while exploring composition, he has also recorded a critically acclaimed album of new works for solo accordion entitled "Aonair".
• 𝗠𝗔𝗖𝗗𝗔𝗥𝗔 𝗢́ 𝗙𝗔𝗢𝗟𝗔́𝗜𝗡
Macdara, originally from An Rinn (Co. Waterford), is renowned for his innovative approach to traditional Irish music. He currently dedicates himself to composing pieces for solo bouzouki, where he fuses his profound understanding of harmony with his traditional roots. Macdara released a solo EP titled "Do Shamhlaigh Mé Tír Nua..." in 2024, a prelude to his debut album, "Ar Thaobh Chill an Fhuarthainn," released in early January 2025. Both projects were produced by composer and pianist Cormac McCarthy.
"Do Shamhlaigh Mé Tír Nua..." was recently nominated for Album of the Year by Nós.ie, and Macdara was also nominated for Best Folk Instrumentalist at the RTÉ Folk Awards. Named Young Musician of the Year by TG4 in 2024, Macdara is establishing himself as a leading figure in traditional Irish music.
