About this Event

In this workshop for children, we will gather in the Mansion's sunken garden to learn the basics of sketching and use some of the beautiful varieties of plants, herbs, and flower blossoms as our inspiration. Have fun creating pencil drawings with provided materials, and enjoy being surrounded by greenery and fresh air. Anyone can learn the simple steps we'll use to shade and build volume, but seasoned sketchers are also welcome! We'll discover what grows in our sunken garden and in Roger Morris Park, including stately elms, intriguing ivy, and blooming rhododendron and azaleas.

Each child will check out a drawing kit, sketch from nature, and enjoy the opportunity to explore the inviting garden oasis and park grounds surrounding Morris-Jumel Mansion.

Free with pre-registration; spaces are limited to 40 children, maximum of 3 places per family.

Safety Requirements: This socially-distanced workshop will be held outside of Morris-Jumel Mansion for two hours. Masks must be worn by all participants, and adult participants must complete a health screening questionnaire for their pods and remain with their children during the workshop.
