About Dr, Erine Harbott
Ernie is a passionate soil advocate, professional composter and educator with a background in Chemistry, Environmental Science and Biogeochemistry. She’s a Master Composter, Certified Soil Food Web Microscopist, and founder of Compost Culture and Soil Sisters Singleton. Guided by the belief that one person can make a difference, Ernie shares practical, accessible composting knowledge to help people build healthy soils and grow nutrient-dense food.

Our members come from across the Hunter region and beyond — from people managing rural properties to those growing food in backyards, courtyards, and on balconies. We meet once a month at Purple Pear Farm to learn from guest educators, share practical skills, and enjoy a meal together. It’s a friendly, down-to-earth space to connect, learn, and swap ideas. Whether you’re new to permaculture or have been practicing for years, you’re very welcome here.
