És mégis működik: ez a hét férfi saját örökségén keresztül mutatja be a marokkói tájak ritmusát és a gnawa törzs hagyományait, melyek a nagyvárosi hip-hop-ban érnek véget. Földhöz tapadó férfierők, megrángatott színes pólók és afrikai zene: jönnek az emberek.
A marokkói gnawa törzs vallásából és az ehhez tartozó zenevilágból táplálkozó előadás rituális, transzba hajló táncát a koreográfus, Fouad Boussouf a nagyvárosok hip-hop zenéjével és mozgásával olvasztotta egybe. A hét táncos karaktere számtalan mesebeli és vallási előképhez köthető, hiszen a hetes a tökéletesség száma, mely egyszerre páratlan és sérülékeny is. Az Emberek egy olyan világot mutat be nekünk, melyben a férfiak és a nők örökké másfelé vágynak, legyen az létező hely vagy spiritulális menedék, közösen beszélt nyelvük pedig a ritmus, mely egyesíti és mozgatja ezeket a testeket.
“Az arab nass szó magyar megfelelője az emberek, mely utal a Nass el Ghiwane nevű híres együttesre, akik a hetvenes években megismertették a Gnawa kultúráját a hippi mozgalommal. Költői, de rendhagyó dalszövegeik miatt párszor a börtönben végezték, de mégiscsak láthatóvá tették a marokkói rap-et, annak amerikai mintát követő, elszánt szövegeivel. Ennek a híres bandának a története egy fontos inspirációs forrásom volt a munkafolyamat során.” Fouad Boussouf

First there is rhythm, the sounds of immemorial time, unceasing and obsessive. From this rhythm is born the communion of seven dancers, a fusion of energies and bodies, the power of the community with its inherent violence and weaknesses.
On the border between the sacred and the profane, between frenetic modernity and ancestral rituals, Näss challenges contradictory physical states and affirms the fusion between the popular and urban aspects of hip-hop. It questions its proper roots tracing their evolution until today. Sources of inspiration are the regional dances of Morocco taskiwine and regadda, as well as the mysticism of the Gnawa tradition.
“The history of the famous band Nass el Ghiwane* from the 1970s in North Africa has been of key inspiration to me. Their lyrics reminded me of the strange connection with the anti-establishment current of rap and hip-hop from the same period in the United States. I discovered a type of hip-hop that is more spiritual, impregnated with ancestral traditions.” – Fouad Boussouf
