About this Event
Come and join us for a conservation task day at the new community woodland plantation of over 300 new broadleaved trees between Rising Sun Country Park and Rising Sun Farm.
We will be:
- Removing short tree guards and replacing with larger tree guards on established trees.
- Removing trees that haven't survived in preparation to replace them next planting season with healthy trees of the same species - known in the industry as “beat up” (15% or more of trees usually need replacing in a new woodland).
Please park in country park car park and walk through to the site! (no parking available at the farm)
For Parking -
There is free parking at the Country Park (Rising Sun Countryside Centre). We will get our own vehicles directly onto the site, with tools, gloves, first aid, water, etc – but one of us will meet you in the Country Park car park and walk through with you. Please do not try and park at Rising Sun farm.

Additional Information
All trees, tuition and equipment will be provided. Please wear sturdy boots or shoes at is may be muddy.
Please bring your own lunch or there is a good artisan baker at Rising Sun farm (Earth and Fire), and we can chat to them before the event, to ensure they will have enough stock - https://maps.app.goo.gl/FcqeiPdN18wZu2gb8 - they do good coffee as well. It just a field’s walk away.
It would be good if people can bring a water bottle themselves (to save managing mugs!!) and we will bring at least 20 litres of fresh drinking water, and can top up during the day as well.
There is first aid cover in place.
There are public toilet facilities at the country park (not the farm) – and we will inform the manager of the event days in advance.
This event is being managed by Living Woods (www.living-woods.org.uk) on behalf of North Tyneside Council, as part of the ongoing work of the North East Community Forest (www.northeastcommunityforest.org.uk )
