Walk & Ride Community Event Celebrates Trails, Parks, and Culture
Newberg, OR – Friends of Chehalem Trails invites the community to enjoy a scenic and informative guided walk and slow bike ride on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at 1:00 PM. Starting at Chehalem Cultural Center (415 E Sheridan St, Newberg, OR) and journeying to Jaquith Park (1215 N Main St, Newberg, OR) before returning, this 1.6-mile routeoffers a unique way to experience local history, community spaces, and the benefits of trails for health and well-being.
This event highlights two significant community landmarks: Chehalem Cultural Center, a historic hub for arts and education, and Jaquith Park, a beloved recreational space named for Walter Jaquith, a key figure in establishing the local parks district. Participants will learn about the park’s evolution and its exciting upcoming additions: six new pickleball courts set to be completed in summer 2025. These courts, along with resurfaced tennis courts, will provide expanded opportunities for recreation, reinforcing Jaquith Park’s role as a vital community space.
“Our trails and parks are more than just places to walk or play—they are gathering spaces that strengthen our community,” said Matt Dolphin, local trail advocate. “This event is a fantastic way to experience the benefits of our growing trail system while learning about the history and future of Newberg’s public spaces.”
The route follows city sidewalks, making it accessible for a wide range of participants. Whether you're a history buff, outdoor enthusiast, or simply looking for a fun way to get active, this walk and ride is for you!
