About this Event
Mirabel was a smart, funny, and affectionate girl who was profoundly loved by many friends and family across the DC region. It is the request of her parents, Steve and Megan, that we offer the opportunity to grieve the loss of Mirabel together and support the community’s well being.
What to expect:
This gathering will be facilitated by The Wendt Center (https://www.wendtcenter.org/), Tanya Clausen LCSW, Debby Rager LCSW, and Laelia Gilborn LCSW. We will have two separate sessions occurring simultaneously: One geared towards parents and one specifically for the kids.
FOR THE PARENTS: A grief counselor from the Wendt center will be present to meet with parents separately to answer questions and provide information on how to talk to their children about grief and suicide.
FOR THE KIDS: At the same time, children will be meeting together with counselors and have the option to participate in an art activity and talk about memories of their dear friend.
Due to COVID and space restrictions, we do have to limit the number of those attending. PLEASE SIGN UP TO REGISTER FOR THIS EVENT. Masks will be required both indoors and outdoors and we ask that all those who attend are vaccinated.
In the event your loved ones are struggling and need help please contact the Suicide Hotline at 800-273-8255 or https://suicidepreventionlifeline.org/chat/
