About this Event
Drug and alcohol addiction is a national crisis. The effects are felt in our own communities. Most of us know someone; a family member, a friend, an associate, or even a public personality, that has been impacted by drugs, alcohol, or multiple substance abuse. Overdose deaths occur far too frequently. Very often, people affected suffer in silence and shame.
But, there is hope. There is help. There is a community of support.
Join us on November 18th for a free community event at Cochise College Main Campus Student Union for a Community Spotlight focused on addiction and recovery.
The event starts with a Resource Fair from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM. If you thought there were no resources in Cochise County, think again. Explore the many options for treatment, peer support, prevention, and aftercare. Meet people who "get it". Find out what's available locally. There is no shame here. These folks are here to help.
At 5:30 PM, special guest speakers will provide information.
- We'll hear about stigma and shame, and why it's so critical to overcome them. How, as a community, can we create positive change?
- We'll learn about illegal drugs in our communities and why awareness is important.
- We'll hear about community in action
- And we'll learn about the secret dangers of seemingly harmless phone apps used by our youth
Snacks and beverages will be provided.
This event is a collaboration of Cochise College, Cochise Addiction Recovery Partnership, Arizona Complete Health, Cochise Harm Reduction, and Legacy Foundation of Southeast Arizona.
