Community Skate Night – A Relaxed, Skill-Focused Skate SessionMONDAY - NOVEMBER 10 & DECEMBER 1
This is not a public skate with a DJ—Community Skate Night is all about practicing, learning, and connecting in a low-pressure, informal setting. Each session begins with a Shuffle Skate lesson at 6:30 PM, followed by open practice from 7:30–10:30 PM where you can refine your skills, try new moves, and skate at your own pace.
We offer beginner Shuffle in the Practice Rink and intermediate/advanced Shuffle in the Big Rink, so everyone can find the space that fits their level. Bring your favorite music—anyone can plug in songs to help build the playlist for the night.
It’s a great way to meet other skaters, share tips, and simply enjoy rolling in a supportive community. Pricing: Community Skate is

COACH RICEBALL BIO:
We are so excited to have Coach Steve, aka "Riceball" back!
Riceball is a three-time Team Canada Men’s Roller Derby athlete and long-time member of the Glenmore Reservoir Dogs, currently serving as co-Captain and Athletic Director on the Chinook City Roller Derby board. He also coaches Team Canada Women's Roller Derby and junior level skaters.
Beyond derby, Riceball has deep skating roots — rhythm skating in Calgary since the 70s at legendary rinks like Rollerland, Hollywood Roller Gardens, and Lloyd’s. With decades of rhythm and footwork experience, he brings authentic shuffle culture, technique, and passion to the floor.
COACH THERESA:
Co-owner of House of Skate, has danced for over 30 years both professionally and teaching. She has danced on skates since she was two and continued in her shoes at Free Spirit Dance. Her specialty is helping you catch the groove.
