The Clean City of Willoughby Association Inc. is hosting a shred event on Saturday, August 3, 2024, powered by Shred-it of Cleveland at the City of Willoughby Service Garage located at 37400 N. Industrial Parkway. This free event will take place from 9 a.m. – 12 noon and will provide community members with a safe and secure resource to shred their confidential personal documents. Two of Shred-it's secure, mobile shredding trucks will be on-site to safely destroy documents on site. The shredded paper will be recycled and made into products like paper towels and tissue. Each ton of paper collected from the community will save 17 trees, 380 gallons of oil and 7,000 gallons of water. Since 2011, we have collected 127,892 pounds of material which is equivalent to saving 447,290 gallons of water, 1087.49 trees, 255,880 kilowatts of electricity and 22,978 gallons of oil.
Types of materials to shred include: accounting paper, adding machine tapes, computer paper, faxes, manila file folders, laser printer paper, legal pad paper, ncr paper, colored paper (20 lb.), receipts, and all types of white paper. Small paper clips and staples do not have to be removed.
Do NOT include newspapers, phone books, magazines, binders, books, pendaflex folders, food and candy wrappers, napkins, Styrofoam containers or waxed paper.
There is a five-box limit per resident. Call 440-953-4200 if you need any additional information.
NO PLASTICS - METALS OR ANY NON-PAPER PRODUCT
• You will always remain in your car.
• Volunteers will remove boxes from your trunk.
• Once emptied we will return the box or container to your trunk.
• We will not remove loose papers that have not been paper bagged or boxed. Plastic garbage bags are discouraged.
• If you want to watch the shredding of your materials, you will be directed to a distant safe area.
