Find more details on our website: https://wpcalbany.org/event/community-potluck-and-discussion/Please join us for a new series of programs focused on faith in action. On the third Wednesday of each month we’ll gather together for a potluck dinner followed by a conversation with a guest speaker. All are welcome–members of Westminster, friends, and neighbors.
About the potluck: We’ll share our meal with members of the English Language class offered on Wednesday evenings, taught by Westminster neighbor Kim Vaugeois. Please bring a dish that is ready to serve. We’ll provide drinks, serving utensils, plates, bowls, and silverware.
**September’s Topic: Faith in Action, 78 Miles to Batavia**
Our conversation starter this month is Rev. Dr. Leah Mason Ntuala, Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Seneca Falls, NY. She writes:
“Public Theology is faith in action and word outside the walls of our congregations. This year, I felt God stirring me out of my mode of hypernormalisation and into the streets as an alternative definition to Christian Nationalism. With no training and minimal prep, I set out on a 78- mile walk along 5 and 20 from my home in Seneca Falls to the Immigration Detention Center in Batavia, a federally run ICE facility. It was a spiritual pilgrimage and a hope that it would inspire others’ faith and action.”

How has your faith shaped your response to immigration policy in the United States? When have you felt compelled to take action on this issue–or any other–because of your faith? Come and add your perspective to our conversation!
