Dear Tacoma Community, As the year draws to a close,
Chiapas Education Project extends our deepest gratitude to each and every one of you. This has been an incredible first year for us, and we are immensely grateful for the warm support that has surrounded our journey since our founding. Thank you for coming together to help us collect computer donations and backpacks for the children in Chiapas. Because of your dedication and generosity, we’ve been able to expand our mission beyond Chiapas to address the needs of underserved communities on the Pine Ridge Reservation and across the Pacific Northwest.
Over the past 12 months, with your support, we have refurbished 150 computers, providing technology access to low-income families who previously had none. This achievement is a testament to the strength of our community and our shared belief in equity, solidarity, and opportunity for all.
As a small token of our immense gratitude, we warmly invite you to join us for a community posada. This traditional Mexican celebration, which reenacts Mary and Joseph’s journey seeking shelter before Jesus’s birth, lights the way to unity, love, and the magic of the season. We will be sharing traditional Mexican dishes, including vegan, vegetarian, and meat options, to ensure everyone can join in the celebration. This festive potluck will include a piñata, raffle, live performances and a chance to enjoy each other’s company.
Sunday December 15th from 2-5pm at 311 Puyallup Ave, Tacoma
With heartfelt gratitude,
The Chiapas Education Project Team
